Biography

James Berger of Dallas, Texas, is a wheelchair bodybuilder whose life changed dramatically following a devastating car accident in 2010. At approximately 1:30 a.m., James was driving about 110 mph when his truck struck a corner post in a field. He was not wearing a seatbelt, but the airbags helped keep him inside the vehicle as it flipped end-over-end approximately six times before landing upside down.

James remained trapped inside the overturned truck for approximately six hours before anyone found him. The accident resulted in a T10–T12 incomplete spinal cord injury, leaving him with paraplegia and requiring the use of a wheelchair.

Since his injury, James has continued to challenge himself physically and pursue bodybuilding at a competitive level. At 5’9″, with a contest weight of approximately 130 pounds and an off-season weight of approximately 150 pounds, James demonstrates that a life-changing injury does not have to eliminate the drive to compete, improve, and pursue new goals. His journey represents determination, perseverance, and the ability to move forward after circumstances change life in an instant.
