Steve Suppes of the USA is a wheelchair bodybuilder whose life changed dramatically following a serious motocross racing accident in 2021. While racing through a section of whoops, a series of bumps and waves on a motocross track, Steve’s bike went out from underneath him, sending him hard to the ground.
Steve landed directly on his butt, breaking his pelvis. Moments later, the racer behind him struck him in the back of his right shoulder, violently twisting his body. The impact and twisting motion caused Steve to sustain a T12 incomplete spinal cord injury, resulting in paraplegia and the use of a wheelchair.
Following his life-changing injury, Steve carried his competitive mindset into a new chapter of his life through wheelchair bodybuilding. The same determination required to compete in motocross now drives him in the gym and on the bodybuilding stage. His journey from motocross racing to competitive wheelchair bodybuilding represents resilience, determination, and the ability to adapt when life changes in an instant.
In 2021, I was involved in a motocross racing accident. I was going through a section of whoops when my bike went out from underneath me. I came down hard, landing directly on my butt and breaking my pelvis.
The racer behind me then hit me in the back of my right shoulder, violently twisting my body. The impact and twisting motion caused a T12 incomplete spinal cord injury, leaving me paralyzed and using a wheelchair.
